Description

Cryogenic Gate Valve

Cryogenic Gate Valve is a valve specially used for extremely low temperature working conditions, usually used for the control and cut-off of media such as liquefied natural gas (LNG), liquid nitrogen, liquid oxygen, and liquid argon. Its design and operating temperature range is usually below -46°C, and can even be as low as -196°C. Cryogenic Gate Valves must maintain good sealing performance, operational flexibility and structural stability in deep cold environments.

Process Characteristics

Material selection:

The valve body, valve cover and key components are made of low temperature resistant materials, such as stainless steel (such as 304, 316L) or low temperature alloy steel to ensure strength and toughness at extremely low temperatures.

Sealing materials are usually selected from polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) or special low temperature rubber to ensure good sealing performance at low temperatures.

  • Extended bonnet/stem valve cover design: The Extended bonnet/stem valve cover structure is adopted to extend the distance between the valve stem and the valve body to avoid external heat transmission and prevent the valve from icing or freezing.
  • Special sealing structure: The double sealing design is adopted to ensure zero leakage under ultra-low temperature conditions. The valve seat and gate sealing surface are precisely machined to ensure reliable sealing performance.
  • Antifreeze and insulation design: The valve can be equipped with an insulation layer or electric heating device on the outside to prevent the influence of low-temperature media on the external structure of the valve. The stuffing box uses special low-temperature stuffing to prevent hardening or failure caused by low temperature.
  • Strict manufacturing and testing: Deep cold treatment is required during the manufacturing process to ensure the performance stability of the material at low temperatures.

The valve needs to be tested at ultra-low temperatures (such as liquid nitrogen test) before leaving the factory to verify its sealing performance and operating performance at extremely low temperatures.

Operation mode:

Support manual, gear transmission, electric or pneumatic operation to meet the needs of different working conditions.

In extremely low temperature environments, the operating mechanism must have antifreeze and anti-stuck functions.

Application Areas

  • Liquefied natural gas (LNG): used for medium control in LNG storage and transportation, receiving stations and liquefaction plants.
  • Air separation equipment: used for the control and cut-off of liquid nitrogen, liquid oxygen, liquid argon and other media.
  • Chemical industry: used for the transportation and storage system of low-temperature chemical media.
  • Aerospace field: used for the control of propellants such as liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen.

Cryogenic Gate Valves ensure reliability and safety under extremely low temperature conditions through special material selection, long-necked bonnet design, double sealing structure and strict manufacturing process. Its process characteristics fully consider the impact of low temperature environment on valve performance, and it is an indispensable key equipment in cryogenic medium control systems.
