Application Scenarios and Advantages of Solid Gate Valve
I. Application Scenarios
Solid gate valves (solid wedge gate) has simple structure and high strength. It is widely used in the following situations:
Low to mediumpressure and low temperature operating conditions
Suitable for the transportation of water, steam, oil and other common media, commonly used in water supply and drainage systems, heating networks, low-pressure industrial pipeline. For example, they are used for full opening/full break control of urban water supply pipelines to reduce flow resistance.

 

Turbulent Media Environments
Wedge gate valve design are designed to withstand turbulent media and are suitable for pipelines with frequent changes in fluid direction, such as circulating water systems during chemical processes.
Applications Not Requiring Thermal Compensation
Since the solid structure cannot compensate for thermal expansion of the pipe, it is more suitable for applications with low temperature fluctuations (e.g. ambient temperature or low temperature). If used at high temperatures, expansion joints or other devices are required to prevent heat locks.

Low Fluid Resistance
When the valve is fully open, the body provides a straight flow path to maintain the direction of flow and provides a low resistance coefficient (similar to a straight pipeline) to make it suitable for long distance transport or applications requiring minimum pressure drop.

 

Reliable Sealing Performance
With a forced seal design, the axial pressure the valve stem forms a tight seal between the gate and seat when closed. This minimizes erosion of the sealing cover when fully opened, and thus has a longer service life than some globe valves.

 

Bidirectional Flow
The symmetrical gate structure allows media to flow in from any direction, ensuring that installation is not restricted by direction. Suitable for circular networks or systems where the direction of traffic may change.

 

Low on and Closing Torque
The gate and the flow direction move vertically, the opening and closing requires less torque, thus saving force, especially suitable for frequent manual opening and closing.
Simple Structure and Easy Manufacturing.
Compared with flexible or split-wedge gate valve, solid gate valves has few parts, good casting process and low price. Maintenance also makes it relatively easy to replace sealed covers and other components.
